【藏品簡(jiǎn)介】：沉香木是瑞香科（Thymelaeaceae）植物白木香干燥木質(zhì)結(jié)油部分，是一種木材、香料和中藥。沉香木植物樹(shù)心部位當(dāng)受到外傷或真紅油菌感染刺激后，會(huì)大量分泌樹(shù)脂幫助愈合，過(guò)程中產(chǎn)生濃郁香氣的組織物。這些部分因?yàn)槊芏群艽螅艹寥胨拢直环Q為“沉水香”。在世界上很多地方，沉香木是珍貴的香料，被用作燃燒熏香、提取香料、加入酒中，或直接雕刻成裝飾品。沉香木又名沉水香。沉香木質(zhì)硬，大多不浮于水，味微苦，帶甘甜。燃燒時(shí)的濃煙散發(fā)出強(qiáng)烈香氣，并有黑色油狀物滲出。沉香木主要分布于我國(guó)的兩廣以及云南和福建等地，東亞國(guó)家以印度尼西亞、馬來(lái)西亞、新加坡所產(chǎn)的沉香（新州香）質(zhì)量最佳。

《本草綱目》中記載：沉香木具有強(qiáng)烈的抗菌效能、香氣入脾、清神理氣、補(bǔ)五臟、止咳化痰、暖胃溫脾、通氣定痛、能入藥，是上等藥材極品。沉香木種類很多，按其油脂含量分為“沉水”（這是沉香中實(shí)質(zhì)或較中間的部份，膏脂凝結(jié)較緊密、結(jié)實(shí)的部份，投水即沉）、“箋”（半浮半沉）和“黃熟香”（不沉于水）三種。沉香樹(shù)因病變開(kāi)始結(jié)香后，會(huì)經(jīng)歷漫長(zhǎng)的生長(zhǎng)期，至少需要幾年至十幾年的時(shí)間，但一塊優(yōu)質(zhì)的沉香木要數(shù)十年甚至上百年才能形成，因此產(chǎn)量極少，市場(chǎng)供不應(yīng)求，因此十分珍貴，具有很高的收藏價(jià)值。另外，沉香的木材、樹(shù)頭和樹(shù)根都可用來(lái)制作高級(jí)線香，用于拜祭和熏香。
