軍政府造四川銅幣是辛亥革命時期的產物。新的四川軍政府成立之初即面臨著需用日繁、度支日絀的財政困窘局面。軍政府迅速接管了四川成都造幣廠，決定鑄造四川銅幣以應急。民國元年4月，四川成都造幣廠奉軍政府之令，更換前清龍紋銅元舊模，雕版民國銅元新款。正式開鑄軍政府造四川銅幣”，開模鑄造“軍政府造四川銅幣”(也稱“漢”字銅元)。
其鑄造歷史：篆書“漢”字四川銅幣有五文、十文、二十文、五十文、一百文五種面值，其中一百文幣極為罕見。二十文、五十文幣鑄造數量較多。十文幣鑄造量大。由此可見，一百文之銅幣是世間難得的精品，極為罕見。
以“漢”字圖案:“漢”字底有數十條橫直紋，因而錢幣收藏者也稱之為“漢”字銅元。“漢”字圓圈外還環繞有18個小圓圈，代表當時的十八個省份。把18個小圓圈圍繞著“漢”字聯成一體，寓意十八省人民團結起來共同為“驅逐韃虜，恢復中華”而戰斗。
