[introduction to the collection]: the Qing Dynasty was the last feudal kingdom in China. After the Manchu and Qing Dynasties entered the customs, in order to stabilize the state power at that time, they continued to follow the practice of the previous generation and forged the year number money. The casting process went through complicated steps. The carved mother coins, also known as ancestral coins, were carved by hand. They were unique and played an important role in the coin casting process at that time. Due to their special nature and the archiving after the money Bureau, they led to extremely rare folk circulation. The particularity of their process has high artistic appreciation value.
Shunzhi Tongbao is a coin of the Qing Dynasty, which was cast during the Shunzhi period (1644 ~ 1661). Shunzhi Tongbao was the first kind of money making officially cast after the Qing Dynasty entered the customs. The face text "Shunzhi Tongbao" and the money text in song style were read in pairs. In the early stage, Shunzhi money retained the money making technology of the Ming Dynasty, making its format have obvious coin characteristics of the Ming Dynasty. In the later stage, it was completely separated from the money making system of the Ming Dynasty and established a unique money making style of the Qing Dynasty. "Shunzhi five styles" played a role in the evolution of coins in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the Qing army entered the customs, a series of large-scale wars broke out between the Qing regime, the Nanming regime and the peasant uprising regime. The unification war of the Qing regime dominated the casting of Shunzhi money in the early stage. It is a classic case and physical evidence of the evolution of money in wartime.
