公元1100年1月，北宋皇帝哲宗病故，由其弟趙佶接替做了北宋第八任皇帝，為宋徽宗。徽宗“性甚機(jī)巧，優(yōu)于技藝”，他在位25年，先后鑄造了圣宋通寶、崇寧通寶（重寶）、大觀通寶、政和通寶（重寶）、重和通寶、宣和通寶（元寶）等6種錢(qián)幣，其中崇寧通寶（重寶）和大觀通寶的錢(qián)文是徽宗親書(shū)的瘦金體。令人叫絕的是崇寧重寶，青銅精制，文字骨秀格清，惹得眾多古錢(qián)幣收藏者愛(ài)不忍釋。
In 1100, the Northern Song Emperor died of a serious illness and was succeeded by his younger brother, Emperor Huizong of Song, as the eighth emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty, Emperor Huizong of Song. In his 25 years in power, Huy Tông had minted six kinds of coins: Saint Song Tong Bao, Chong Ning Tong Bao, Grand View Tong Bao, Zheng He Tong Bao, Chong he tong Bao, Xuan he tong Bao, and Yuan Bao, chongning Tong Bao (Zhongbao) and Grand View Tong Bao Qian Wen is Huy Tông pro-book of the body of thin gold. 此枚崇寧重寶，直徑3.5cm，重：12.2g。系北宋徽宗崇寧年間鑄(公元1102年-1106年)，銅幣正面鐫刻著“崇寧重寶”，字體為隸書(shū)，端莊雄秀，古樸方正，嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)莊重，法度固定，字里行間留在錢(qián)幣上的，是腐蝕錢(qián)幣的鐵銹;銅幣背面則沒(méi)有印制任何的字體。錢(qián)幣的中央部分，是打孔的正方形圖案，方正大方，落落得體，輪廓立體，這種錢(qián)幣鑄造形狀便于老百姓將其串起來(lái)掛在身上，不易丟失。該銅幣整體制作精良，版面清晰秀美，文字方正，保存良好，在經(jīng)過(guò)時(shí)間的洗禮，歲月的沖刷后成古銅色，包漿自然，字里行間留在錢(qián)幣上的，是腐蝕錢(qián)幣的銹跡，讓人一看就知道它的歷史年頭。

崇寧重寶除了火法冶煉之外還有“膽水治銅法”。這種冶銅法就是利用金屬鐵從含有銅化合物的溶液中置換出銅來(lái)，然后把它刮取下來(lái)，再經(jīng)烹煉后，就可以得到銅錠。所謂“膽水”是指天然的含硫酸銅(俗稱(chēng)它為實(shí)膽、膽礬)的泉水。它的形成是因?yàn)樘烊坏牧蚧~礦石經(jīng)風(fēng)化氧化，一部分便會(huì)生成可溶性硫酸銅，經(jīng)過(guò)地下水、雨水的浸泡、淋洗，便會(huì)溶解而匯入泉水中。這種膽水必須要銅的濃度足夠大，才可以為水法冶銅的原料。故當(dāng)時(shí)鑄造難度十分艱難，藏品價(jià)值十分巨大，歷史意義紀(jì)念價(jià)值非常高。
