中國的古錢幣“大泉五十”流傳久遠，這枚古錢幣是西漢王莽所鑄造。西漢晚期，王莽篡位，建立新朝，先后對貨幣制度進行4次改革，雖然都以失敗告終，卻留下了一批制作精良的錢幣。

本品面文“大泉五十”四字，篆書書體，直讀。其字謄寫工致有加，字形巨細適中，整體結構規范協調，筆劃橫直直立，凸顯莊重端美，書相威風凜凜威風凜凜典型，本色書風神韻。本品鑄制十分精整，鑄體較之尺度品更顯料足而厚實，類折二巨細。復觀鑄相，方正圓矩，坦平地章，穿輪更是干清潔凈。其字廓紋飾皆深竣挺秀，鼓凸自然有度，錢文筆劃較為纖細，清晰可辨，緣接地章渾圓。顯而易見，其鑄相特征典型，鑄制品質乃屬優等，彰顯了王莽鑄幣精造之特色，正是其時官爐出品，開門鑄相，毫無疑問。
