魏楚予，1945年生，山東費(fèi)縣人；早年就讀于北京中央美術(shù)學(xué)院附中，畢業(yè)于杭州美術(shù)學(xué)院。他曾師從顏文梁、潘天壽、林鳳眠、倪貽德、羅工柳、陳大羽諸位藝術(shù)大師，現(xiàn)在是著名畫家、書法家、郵票設(shè)計(jì)家、中國(guó)人民大學(xué)徐悲鴻藝術(shù)學(xué)院教授、解放軍軍事博物館專職畫家、中國(guó)美術(shù)家協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)員、中國(guó)書法家協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)員、日本國(guó)際水墨畫交流協(xié)會(huì)理事、澳門老年書畫協(xié)會(huì)顧問(wèn)。魏先生曾被中共中央黨史研究室聘為《百年中華英烈頌》藝術(shù)大展的藝術(shù)總監(jiān)、中國(guó)古代軍事博物館總體設(shè)計(jì)師等職。
Wei Chuyu, born in 1945 in Feixian, Shandong Province, studied in the middle school attached to Beijing Central Academy of fine arts and graduated from Hangzhou Academy of fine arts. He was once a teacher of Yan Wenliang, Pan Tianshou, Lin Fengmian, Ni Yide, Luo Gongliu and Chen Dayu. Now he is a famous painter, calligrapher, stamp designer, Professor of Xu Beihong Art School of Renmin University of China, full-time painter of PLA Military Museum, member of China Artists Association, member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, director of Japan International ink painting Exchange Association, Australia Consultant of the old people's painting and Calligraphy Association. Mr. Wei was once employed by the Party History Research Office of the CPC Central Committee as the art director of the art exhibition "Ode to Chinese Martyrs in a hundred years" and the overall designer of the ancient Chinese Military Museum.
魏楚予在1992-1999年歷時(shí)七年完成了《求索》油畫的創(chuàng)作。作品真實(shí)地再現(xiàn)了毛主席在中南海故居日常工作學(xué)習(xí)的場(chǎng)景。他在創(chuàng)作這幅油畫時(shí)曾多次舉辦座談，征求在毛主席身邊工作過(guò)的周福明、李銀橋、張玉風(fēng)等工作人員及毛主席的女兒李敏、李納、兒媳邵華等人的意見(jiàn)。
Wei Chuyu completed the creation of "quest" oil painting for seven years from 1992 to 1999. The work truly reproduces the scene of Chairman Mao's daily work and study in Zhongnanhai's former residence. When he created the oil painting, he held many symposiums to solicit the opinions of Zhou fuming, Li Yinqiao, Zhang Yufeng and other staff members who worked with Chairman Mao, as well as Chairman Mao's daughters Li Min, Li Na, and his daughter-in-law Shao Hua.

Ma Wanqi, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), personally wrote an inscription for Wei Chuyu's works: "integration of China and the west, the light of art"; general Shaohua's inscription: "struggle hard to seek truth"; Jin Shangyi, chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, wrote: "art is the practitioner of life".
