中國古代錢幣之一?！∥鳚h末年王莽政權鑄造，形制怪異，分為上下兩部分，上部為方孔圓形銅錢，穿右左分別書契刀二字，下部為刀形。。“契刀五百”幣，是西漢末期王莽居攝二年(公元7年)第一次幣改時鑄造的，當五百五銖錢。王莽幣改的本意是將錢幣大權牢牢掌握在朝廷手中，但實際上將老百姓的錢收進國庫，造成大批百姓破產，逼得百姓揭竿而起。公元23年起義軍攻破長安城，王莽被起義軍殺死了。“契刀五百”錢一共才用了二年，但因制作精致，形態奇美，發行流通時間短，現存世量非常少，這在常州還是首次發現，故具有非常高的收藏價值，同時也是研究西漢末期錢幣史的最好物證，具有一定的歷史價值。此契刀五百，重：15.3g 長：67.85mm厚：2.42mm，此幣身直書五百二字，幣首為圓形方孔，刀環有“契刀”兩個字，刀身銘“五百”二字，值五銖錢五百，品相保存完善，包漿渾厚自然，極美品，極具收藏價值。
