關(guān)于“熨斗”這個(gè)名稱(chēng)的來(lái)歷，古文中有兩種解釋?zhuān)皇侨∠笳鞅倍返囊馑迹瑬|漢的《說(shuō)文解字》中解釋?zhuān)?ldquo;斗，象形有柄”；清朝的《說(shuō)文解字注》中寫(xiě)道：“上象斗形，下象其柄也，斗有柄者，蓋北斗。”二是熨斗的外形如斗。也有把熨斗叫“火斗”、“金斗”的。因?yàn)楣艜r(shí)的熨斗不是用電，而是把燒紅的木炭放在熨斗里，等熨斗底部熱得燙了手以后再使用，所以又叫做“火斗”。“金斗”則是指非常精致的熨斗，不是一般的民間用品，只有皇親貴族才能享用。
「アイロン」という名前の由來(lái)については、古文には北斗を象徴する意味を取ったと解釈されています。東漢の「講文解字」には「斗、象形には柄があります」と説明されています。清朝の「講文解字注」には「上象斗形、下象の柄も、斗有柄者、北斗をかぶせます。」と書(shū)かれています。二つはアイロンの形が斗のようです。アイロンを「火斗」「金斗」と呼ぶこともあります。昔のアイロンは電気ではなく、熱した炭をアイロンにかけ、底が熱くなったらまた使うので、「火斗」と呼ばれています。「金闘」は非常に精巧なアイロンのことで、一般の民需品ではなく、皇親貴族だけが楽しむことができます。
