崇寧通寶錢的研究從很早就開始了，日本古錢學家今井貞吉先生于明治三十二年（公元1899年）編著出版的《古泉大全》中就已經開始總結介紹崇寧通寶。對比目前已知的所有崇寧通寶研究成果，最詳盡的三部資料中，《古泉大全》、《崇寧通寶分類譜》、《北宋銅錢》等都有收錄介紹，可稱得是目前所見最為完備，考據確鑿的崇寧通寶集藏，亦是藏家嘔心瀝血之作，殊為難得，這也證明崇寧通寶錢一直深受國內外泉家青睞。
崇寧通寶是北宋徽宗趙佶崇寧年間始鑄，年號錢。有崇寧通寶、崇寧重寶和崇寧元寶三種。崇寧通寶當十型，錢文為徽宗親書，所以又其為“御書錢”。錢體厚重，青銅質，銹色古舊。之所以謂之大字版，是因為此品錢文四字飽滿，寄廓接緣，除錢徑略小外，輪廓寬窄、穿孔大小、成色亦基本一致。
“御書錢”受收藏者歡迎，更多的是為了欣賞錢文清秀骨瘦的瘦金體，其二是加上這個時期的鑄造工藝極為精絕。在古代錢幣史上，宋徽宗因此而與王莽被并稱為“錢法二圣”。

The study of Chongning Tongbao Money began very early, and the Japanese ancient money scientist Mr. Imai Sakiji began to summarize the introduction of Chongning Tongbao in the "Guquan Daquan" edited and published in the 32nd year of Meiji (AD 1899). Compared with all the Chongning Tongbao research results known at present, among the most detailed three materials, "Guquan Quanquan", "Chongning Tongbao Classification", "Northern Song Dynasty Copper Money", etc. are included in the introduction, which can be said to be seen at present. The most complete, well-documented Chongning Tongbao collection, is also a collector's painstaking work, is rare, which also proves that Chongning Tongbao money has been favored by domestic and foreign Quanjia.
Chongning Tongbao is the founder of the Northern Song Dynasty Huizong Zhao Chong Chongning, the year number. There are three kinds of Chongning Tongbao, Chongning Zhongbao and Chongning Yuanbao.
