徐悲鴻（1895年7月19日—1953年9月26日），漢族，原名徐壽康，江蘇宜興市屺亭鎮(zhèn)人，中國現(xiàn)代畫家、美術教育家。曾留學法國學西畫，歸國后長期從事美術教育，先后任教于國立中央大學藝術系、北平大學藝術學院和北平藝專。1949年后任中央美術學院院長。擅長人物、走獸、花鳥，主張現(xiàn)實主義，于傳統(tǒng)尤推崇任伯年，強調(diào)國畫改革融入西畫技法，作畫主張光線、造型，講求對象的解剖結(jié)構(gòu)、骨骼的準確把握，并強調(diào)作品的思想內(nèi)涵，對當時中國畫壇影響甚大，與張書旗、柳子谷三人被稱為畫壇的“金陵三杰”。所作國畫彩墨渾成，尤以奔馬享名于世。
Xu Beihong (July 19, 1895 September 26, 1953), Han nationality, formerly Xu Shoukang, born in Qiting Town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province, is a modern Chinese painter and art educator. He studied in France and studied western painting. After returning to China, he has been engaged in art education for a long time. He has successively taught in the Department of art of National Central University, the school of art of Beiping University and Beiping art college. In 1949, he became president of the Central Academy of fine arts. He was good at figures, animals, flowers and birds, and advocated realism. In traditional Chinese painting, Ren Bonian was highly praised. He emphasized the integration of traditional Chinese painting reform into Western painting techniques, painting advocated light and modeling, stressed the accurate grasp of the anatomical structure and skeleton of the object, and emphasized the ideological connotation of the work, which had a great impact on the Chinese painting world at that time. He was called the "three heroes of Jinling" in the painting world with Zhang Shuqi and Liu Zigu. The color and ink of the traditional Chinese painting is perfect, especially famous for galloping horses.
徐悲鴻被尊稱為中國現(xiàn)代美術教育的奠基者，他主張發(fā)展“傳統(tǒng)中國畫”的改良，立足中國現(xiàn)代寫實主義美術，提出了近代國畫之頹廢背景下的《中國畫改良論》。
Xu Beihong is honored as the founder of modern Chinese art education. He advocates the development of the improvement of "traditional Chinese painting". Based on the modern Chinese realistic art, he puts forward the "Chinese painting improvement theory" in the context of the decadent modern Chinese painting.
1953年9月26日，徐悲鴻因腦溢血病逝，享年58歲。按照徐悲鴻的遺愿，夫人廖靜文女士將他的作品1200余件，他一生節(jié)衣縮食收藏的唐、宋、元、明、清及近代著名書畫家的作品1200余件，圖書、畫冊、碑帖等1萬余件， 全部捐獻給國家。
On September 26, 1953, Xu Beihong died of cerebral hemorrhage. He was 58 years old. According to Xu Beihong's last wish, Mrs. Liao Jingwen donated more than 1200 of his works, more than 1200 of the works of famous calligraphers and painters in Tang, song, yuan, Ming, Qing and modern times, and more than 10000 books, picture albums, inscriptions and so on, all of which were donated to the state.
