明代中期，東西方開(kāi)始在沿海地區(qū)開(kāi)始貿(mào)易，對(duì)當(dāng)時(shí)的文化有極大的影響。而且外國(guó)銀元隨之流入中國(guó)。在清代初期，隨著東西方的貿(mào)易逐漸的發(fā)展進(jìn)入正軌，外國(guó)銀元流入中國(guó)的數(shù)量相應(yīng)增多，行用區(qū)域也不斷擴(kuò)展。在外國(guó)銀元的影響下，我國(guó)東南沿海各省率先出現(xiàn)仿照外國(guó)銀元而鑄的銀幣。由于它們都是以人工土法打制而成的，制作工藝比較粗糙，形如餅狀，故被稱(chēng)作“銀餅”

Because they are all made by artificial soil method, and the production process is rough, like a cake, so they are called "silver cake".
臺(tái)灣是最早鑄造銀餅的省份。在清代道光年間，臺(tái)灣鑄造了一種以壽星作正面圖案的銀餅，俗稱(chēng)“壽星銀餅”，它是各類(lèi)銀餅中為時(shí)最早的，存世極少，非常值得收藏。
Taiwan was the first province to make silver cakes. During the Daoguang Period of the Qing Dynasty, Taiwan cast a silver cake with longevity as a positive pattern, commonly known as "longevity silver cake", which was the earliest of all kinds of silver cakes, very few survived, and very worthy of collection.
