中華人民共和國元帥，是中國國家最高軍銜。

1955年2月8日，中華人民共和國第一屆全國人民代表大會常務委員會第六次會議通過《中國人民解放軍軍官服役條例》，中國人民解放軍全面實行軍銜制。條例規定，中國人民解放軍軍官軍銜共分4等16級。
同年9月27日，全國人大常委會第二十二次會議通過了授予中華人民共和國元帥軍銜的決議。毛澤東主席向朱德、彭德懷、林彪、劉伯承、賀龍、陳毅、羅榮桓、徐向前、聶榮臻、葉劍英10人授予了中華人民共和國元帥軍銜。
