畫作主題是農(nóng)歷三月初三，恰逢西王母壽辰，天宮設(shè)蟠桃會，各路神仙前往瑤臺祝壽赴宴。畫家通過描繪空中、海上、陸地三路神仙赴宴時的情景，表現(xiàn)了王母盛筵的巨大場面。
