大多數(shù)玻璃隕石的形狀與熔融濺射物的形狀相似，常呈黑色或深綠色，半透明，一般認(rèn)為是隕星事件造成的，大隕星沖撞使地表及隕星的碎裂物很快融熔、迅速冷卻結(jié)晶而成。大陸上發(fā)現(xiàn)的玻璃隕石的大小，從幾毫米至十幾厘米不等，反射光下發(fā)暗，但薄的邊緣透亮，并具有不同的顏色，從黃色到綠色，從橄欖褐色到暗褐色。由于玻璃隕石的形成比較復(fù)雜，存世極為罕見稀少，物以稀為貴，那他的價(jià)值肯定高于其他隕石。
